TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE MYUPDATES PROMOTIONAL COMPETITION CONDUCTED BY THE STANDARD BANK OF SOUTH AFRICA LIMITED (“THE PROMOTER”)

1 HOW TO PLAY

1.1 This promotional competition commences on Monday 11 July 2011 and ends on Friday 30 September 2011.
1.2 To qualify as an entrant into this promotional competition you must:
1.2.1 be a South African citizen or permanent resident of the Republic of South Africa;
1.2.2 be 18 (eighteen) years or older;
1.2.3 hold a valid identification document;
1.2.4 have an existing transactional bank account with the Promoter (“Account”); and
1.2.5 register for MyUpdates at:
1.2.5.1 any one of the Promoter’s Branches in the Republic of South Africa; or
1.2.5.2 the Promoter’s Customer Contact Centre by dialling 0860123000.
1.3 There are no entry forms to be completed in this promotional competition and you will automatically be entered into the respective selection process if you successfully fulfil the Requirement.

2 PRIZES

2.1 12 (twelve) entrants each stand a chance of winning R5 000 (five thousand rand) each to be credited into their Account.

3 GENERAL

3.1 The Promoter of this promotional competition is The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited.
3.2 The Promoter, its directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants and their spouses, life partners, parents, children, siblings, business partners or associates are not eligible to participate in or enter this promotional competition.
3.3 All information relating to this promotional competition and published on the Promoter’s website or any promotional or advertising material forms part of these terms and conditions of entry.
3.4 No entry will be considered to be valid until a validation process has taken place.
3.5 The Prize will only be awarded to the prize winner upon valid and satisfactory proof of identification and upon the successful opening of an Account with the Promoter.
3.6 The Prize shall only be credited into the prize winner’s Account and cannot be credited into any other account.
3.7 The Prize cannot not be changed for any other prize other than the prize offered in terms of clause 2 above.
3.8 The prize winners of this promotional competition shall be chosen by means of a lucky draw at the Promoters premises situate at 5 Simmonds Street, Marshalltown, Johannesburg and on Friday 14 October 2011.
3.9 Prize winners will be contacted only telephonically by the Promoter.
3.10 Should the Promoter be unable to contact the prize winner after a 6 (six) month period, the prize shall be subject to a separate draw and shall be allocated in terms of this promotional competition.
3.11 In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Promoter will be final and binding on all aspects of this promotional competition and no correspondence will be entered into.
3.12 The Promoter, its directors, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, suppliers, contractors and sponsors assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from a entrant's participation in this promotional competition or for any loss or damage, howsoever arising.
3.13 The Promoter will be entitled to publish the prize winner’s name and photograph in any advertising, promotional, print, point of sale or public relations material, the nature and manner of such releases to be determined within the sole discretion of the Promoter, for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the date of the lucky draw, after having being publicly announced as the prize winner of this promotional competition and provided that the prize winners expressly consent to such.
3.14 If required by the Minister for Trade and Industry, the National Consumer Commission or for whatever other reason, the Promoter shall have the right to terminate this promotional competition with immediate effect and without notice of such termination. In such event, all entrants hereby waive any rights, which they may have against the Promoter and hereby acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature whatsoever against the Promoter, its directors, members, partners, employees, sponsors, agents or consultants.
3.15 All entrants, by entering this promotional competition, agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3.16 The Promoter is not liable for the failure of any technical element relating to this promotional competition that may result in an entry not being successfully submitted.
3.17 The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of similar commercial value.
